4. OPTION MODULES

The NetVanta 1224STR and NetVanta 1224R support several option modules designed to meet a variety of

networking requirements. The option modules include plug-in network and voice interface modules

(NIMs/VIMs) and plug-on dial backup interface modules (DIMs).

NIMs/VIMs are cards which plug directly into the option module slot located on the rear of the base unit.

These cards provide the following types of interfaces:

• NetVanta T1/FT1 NEBS NIM (P/N 1200862L2#NEBS) on page 28

• NetVanta Dual T1 NIM (P/N 1200872L1) on page 30

• NetVanta E1/FE1 NIM (P/N 1200868E1/L1) on page 31

DIMs are plug-on cards which plug directly on to the NIM prior to installation into the base unit. A DIM

must be plugged on to a NIM/VIM in order for the ports on the NIM/VIM to be active. The NetVanta

supports the following DIMs:

• NetVanta ISDN BRI DIM (P/N 1200865L1) on page 38

• NetVanta ISDN S/T DIM (P/N 1200875L1) on page 39

• NetVanta Serial DIM (P/N 1200886L1) on page 40
